With more than two decades’ experience leading high-profile communications across government, policing, health, and emergency management, she has helped leaders guide communities through some of Victoria’s most defining events — from the COVID-19 pandemic and the Bourke Street tragedy to Royal Commissions, family violence reform and the Black Summer bushfires.
Merita has led large, multidisciplinary teams through intense and high-stakes challenges, advising Police Commissioners, Ministers and Chief Executives on strategy, communication and reputation. Her leadership of Victoria’s COVID-19 public communications program built trust across diverse communities, delivering award-winning engagement in more than 50 languages.
