This week had a marked health focus for the Coalition with promises of a $177-million critical care wing for Monash Children’s Hospital, $60 million for Victorian Cancer Agency for research and announced today, $56.8 million for drug and alcohol addiction treatment.
Labor’s big spends this week were in the regions and growth areas, with a $500 million for a Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund ($200 million regional jobs fund had already been announced), pledging $141 million to firefighter recruitment and cancer compensation, $100 million in bus funding in growth areas and a boost of $16 million yesterday to cancer treatment at the Monash Medical Centre in Moorabbin.
Both parties agreed to renovate Frankston railway station, and at their debate pledged to offer discounted public transport fares for injured veterans.
