
JOHN THOMPSON
Senior Associate
John Thompson has over 20 years of experience developing and driving brand and campaign strategy, digital transformation, and led multi-million-dollar marketing and communications campaigns for Australian and Victorian Government Departments and Agencies, including the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Australian Defence Force, Department of Justice, Victoria Police, and the Victorian Building Authority. Over an 11-year period alone, the team John led at TAC delivered more than 70 world-leading and award-winning behaviour change campaigns tackling the critical lifesaving issues of road safety.
During his time at TAC, John was named Australian Certified Practising Marketer or the Year in 2009 by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI).
After TAC, John joined Dentsu Inc Australia, where he was National Managing Director – Government Services for six years, he oversaw and led campaign development for major national issues including the Marriage Equality Plebiscite, Medibank Privatisation, Defence Force Recruitment and the National Census to name a few.
At the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), John led and delivered the program of stakeholder engagement workshops and campaigns to educate registered practitioners on regulatory reform and significant changes to both the Victorian Building and Plumbing Codes. The full program delivered a smooth transition for practitioners and industry to the new regulations.
John has extensive experience in developing and delivering lead generation campaigns across sectors, driving traffic to websites and customer fulfilment teams. He currently consults on marketing and communication and teaches Public Relations and Advertising at RMIT.
